Best Irish Singers
Last year, the Best Irish Singers managed to create a real Irish "craic" atmosphere at the Weeffabriek. We hope to do that again this year. To set the Irish atmosphere even more, the Irish dance school Rince A Ghrá will now provide some performances.
The Best Irish Singers are led by Ron Vink and accompanied by a band playing typical Irish musical instruments such as guitar, banjo, fiddle, bodhrán, accordion and harmonica. The more serious songs are recited to the audience with style by the 20 singers and band. The party really gets going when the Best Irish Singers start singing the up-tempo pub songs! Micky van Wijnen is the first Dutch adjudicator, she adjudicates international competitions several times a year and as such is well aware of the latest developments within the world of Irish dance. Rince A Ghrá competes at least once a year in a Feis, as the dance competition is called in Irish. Irish dance gained worldwide popularity in 1994 thanks to Michael Flatley's world-famous shows "Riverdance" and "Lord of the Dance".
