Dick van Altena Quintet
The theater stage is no longer unknown territory for Dick van Altena. With the show series Back to the country he has been touring the Netherlands and Belgium for a decade (and continues to do so). In addition, he now enters the theaters with his own music production "Arm around your shoulder". The title of the program is derived from Dick's composition "That arm around my shoulder", which has since acquired the status of evergreen.
Dick van Altena
From 1977 to the end of 2005, Dick van Altena (1957) was the face and especially the sound of the legendary country band (The) Major Dundee (Band). His name as composer / lyricist can also be found among countless songs by Henk Wijngaard, Armand, Toni Willé ("Pussycat"), Saskia & amp; Serge and many, many others. Dick van Altena was one of the main characters in the RTL series "Derksen on the road" (2014) and celebrated his 40th music anniversary (2017) with sold-out concerts and a TV documentary. In addition, he was appointed "Knight of the Order of Oranje Nassau".
Besides Dick van Altena, the Quintet consists of members of the renowned Tilburg formation Savannah. In a semi-acoustic setting, the audience gets a musical arm around their shoulder with songs from Van Altena's acclaimed album "November Wind" and his most recent CD "Late Spring". Naturally, titles from the impressive country and regional language oeuvre of this all-round singer-songwriter will also be heard, who is described as a genius by football journalist, music connoisseur and Dick van Altena fan Johan Derksen.
Due to Corona measures, two performances will be given on this afternoon.
