Standerdmolen Mierlo

You can see it with your own eyes right in the centre of the cosy Mierlo. There is the Standerdmolen Mierlo, a real eye-catcher. The mill was not always here. Until 1857 the mill was still on the Molenheide, near the Katoenpad. When the mill was built there around 1640, it was still a ban mill. Also called a forced mill. Forced mills or ban mills were mills where residents were obliged to have their grains ground. We can no longer imagine this now.

The standerdmolen Mierlo is operated by a team of 7 millers and is open almost every Saturday (from 11 am to 3 pm) to visit. Of course, the miller present will be happy to explain how it all works. Check the website to see if the mill is also open when you are in Geldrop-Mierlo.
