The 120 km long main stream is a real river, which has its source at Peer in Belgium. De Kleine Dommel, on the other hand, is less than 10 km long and originated in the Groote Aa and the Sterkselse Aa, which merge at Heeze Castle. The Kleine Dommel is also called the Rul.
